Who We Are

Welcome!

We are thankful to our Lord Jesus Christ for allowing us to be a part of the Baileyton Community. We have several projects that our Lord has placed on our heart and we are dedicated to the completion of these projects. Praise God! He has sent so many wonderful people our way to assist us in making our church a special place. We feel so blessed! We are looking for new programs that will allow us to pass the love forward.

Our church has been in existence since 1905. In 2007, our church structure burned to the ground. We have been richly blessed by our Lord Jesus Christ in so many ways since then. We began using our new building in 2010 and are still working on it. The paving of our parking lot is now completed. We are moving forward to our next project, room dividers.  Please spend a few minutes with us to see what wonderful church people we have and how we express our love for our Lord Jesus Christ.

We invite you to worship with us.

Our Preaching Service begins at 10:00 in the church Sanctuary. This service is also live streamed on Facebook.

Sunday School follows at 11:00.

Faith

Faith is the cornerstone of our church. It is part of every activity that we do, every meeting that we hold. We believe in our Lord, and that our actions are a reflection of his goodness.

Scripture

We look to the Lord for guidance in our lives. In Scripture, we find all that we need to guide us in the right path. Reading and understand Scripture helps us all live meaningful lives.

Community

Join us. We welcome each and every one of you to encounter the Lord's unconditional love with us. Inside each of us is a purpose and meaning to be fulfilled by God.

Church History

The Baileyton Community Church, formerly called the Baileyton United Methodist Church whose history goes back to its founding in 1905, has a rich history. The first church was known as the Baileyton Methodist Episcopal Church. The land for this church was given by Dr. John Linebaugh and the church was located near the Oakland Seminary, a Methodist institution of higher learning. Many people from the community guided the church into existence and as the years progressed, helped to improve many aspects of the church. The original structure was a lovely and simple church but only consisted of a sanctuary. The potbelly stove was the only source of heat until 1948. The church was raised, a basement was dug under the existing church and a Delco Furnace was installed, enabling the members to have a warm service during the winter months.

Over the years, many improvements were made, and many items were added. The women’s class, known as the Gleaners Class, was instrumental in helping make improvements. Three cookbooks have been created as fundraisers.   The first cookbook was published in 1977. The second cookbook was published in 1984 and the profit was used to help fund the new educational addition. The third cookbook was published in 2010. The church members began collecting recipes in 2007 to assist with the renovations that were needed such as a new metal roof. On November 24, 2007, the church burned to the ground. The cause was not certain but may have been electrical. Members gathered and watched their beloved church structure collapse. They listened and watched as the church bell rang as it fell to the ground. The cookbook profit that was to help with renovations now took on a more important role. The cookbook committee asked for help from the people of the community, and they responded. A cookbook which was about 300 recipes expanded to about 1200 recipes. Recipes were received from local cooks to people living out of state and across the United States. With the sell of the cookbook and donations, the members were able to help in the rebuilding of the church building.

The new church building was dedicated on April 25, 2010. The church members were able to use the classrooms, but many changes needed to be made to finalize the church building. Thirteen years later, the church members are still working on finalizing the new church and now repairing and repainting.

In 2020, Covid took a tole on the nation and the church. Our church was closed for about two years, off and on. The church members were restricted by the United Methodist Church’s changes that went against Methodist doctrine.

The church members chose to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Church and become an independent church focusing on the Bible and what God wanted them to do. So as of June 1, 2023, Baileyton United Methodist Church ceased to exist. Please pray for the new church, Baileyton Community Church. Please pray for the members and the guidance from our Lord Jesus Christ.
